The nerve of Americans, Mr. President, the nerve. You are and always have been just a regular guy. That’s why we voted you into office in the first place. If we wanted a leader with a nuanced understanding of foreign and domestic policy, we would have elected one. But we didn’t want some boring intellectual droning on about the world’s problems. We wanted somebody we could relate to, somebody who’s demeanor and speech would belie the complexity of the office, a complexity that our simple hearts and minds could never fully grasp. And now we’re upset that you didn’t do a very good job? What did we expect? Well, chalk it up as a lesson learned. Farewell, and I hope that the simple life of chopping wood back on the family ranch will be kinder to you than your disillusioned country has.
